A Message from PenSPRA's President

Dear Colleagues,

I have been a member of PenSPRA for more than 20 years. I am honored and excited to serve as your association president. The truth is that I have not always been as active in PenSPRA as I am today. I am here to tell you that membership is a great start, but being an engaged participant is the best way to reap PenSPRA’s benefits. Plus being involved makes being a member a lot more fun.

Think about it. Isn’t this what we ask of our school community? We know that an engaged and informed community is a stronger community. We strive to make our schools inviting and a resource for our families. I want you to think of PenSPRA in a similar light and have made this one of my goals during my leadership.

So if you are not a member yet, now is the time to join. And if you are a member, now is the time to engage.

I am very fortunate to be surrounded by creative and talented communications professionals on the PenSPRA executive board. Furthermore, Mary Curly and her team at the Chester County Intermediate Unit who manage the Executive Director duties are phenomenal. I can honestly say that my term as president will be the easiest in PenSPRA’s history because of the organizational changes we have made in the last two years that have positioned us stronger than ever.

If you want to be part of this exciting time for PenSPRA and school communications, now is the time to join. And now is the time to engage.

On the horizon for PenSPRA is a new strategic plan that will address key areas where we want to strengthen the organization. The Executive board will begin this work in March and we will update members at the symposium. At this time we will also let you know how you can be part of the process, because we need to hear from you on topics such as:

      • Do you want more professional development to elevate your skills?
      • Are you looking for us to provide more networking opportunities, in-person and online?
      • How can we improve communication with members, including our website?
      • What strategies can we implement to secure Philadelphia as an upcoming location for the NSPRA national seminars?
      • Where should PenSPRA be financially in 3, 5 and 10 years?
      • How do we better position PenSPRA as the school communications leader in the state through strategic partnerships?

If you want to be part of these discussions, and I hope you do, now is the time to join. And now is the time to engage.

I look forward to seeing you at the PenSPRA symposium on March 26th and 27th where we can discuss the exciting future of our organization together.
